Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a small chimney fire at a museum in Valentines Park in Ilford this morning

A bio-mass boiler in the three storey building's basement containing wood pellets had overheated, causing a small fire in the boiler's chimney flue and leaving the basement smoke logged.

Crews have ventilated the basement and remain at the scene checking the boiler flue for remaining hotspots.

The Brigade was called at 1131 and the fire was under control by 1458. Crews from Ilford, Hainault, Woodford and Leytonstone fire stations are at the scene.
