Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a flat fire on Wimbourne Street in Hoxton this morning.
Part of a flat on the third floor was damaged by the blaze.
A woman left the property before the arrival of the Brigade.
The Brigade was called at 1107 and the fire was under control by 1145. Fire crews from Shoreditch, Islington, Euston and Dowgate fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
