Thamesmead – Disused recycling warehouse fire

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers dealt with a blaze in a disused recycling warehouse on Nathan Way in Thamesmead this afternoon.

The alarm was raised by someone calling from a nearby building, who saw smoke coming from the warehouse.

Machinery that contained 10 tonnes of rubbish was damaged by the fire. Thankfully no one was injured.

The Brigade was called at 1130 and the fire was under control by 1346. Fire crews from Sidcup, Erith, Bexley, East Greenwich and Lee Green fire stations attended the scene.
