Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a house fire on Newbury Close in Romford, on Saturday evening.

The man, who was rescued from the hallway, was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. The fire left part of the two storey terraced property’s ground floor damaged.

The Brigade was called at 1928, and the fire was under control by 2009. Three fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers from Harold Hill, Romford and Ilford fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
