Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued five people from a flat fire in Edmonton.

A woman and her two children, along with two further women were led to safety from a block of flats on Fore Street. They were all suffering from smoke inhalation and treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

The fire damaged part of the electrical cupboard on the ground floor and caused a power failure in the property.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers dealt with the fire in the nine storied residential property.

The Brigade was called at 1245 and the fire was under control by 1409. Fire crews from Edmonton, Tottenham and Hornsey fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
