Four fire engines were called to a fire at a recycling plant on River Road in Barking earlier this morning.
A paper shredder in one of the shredding plant buildings was destroyed by fire.
Twenty one firefighters and officers attended the blaze from Barking, Shadwell, Dagenham and Poplar fire stations.
The Brigade was called at 1011 and was under control by 1141. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
