Carshalton – disused flat blaze

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers tackled a fire disused flats above a shop on Wrythe Lane in Carshalton last night.

The alarm was raised by a passer by who saw flames through the window of the second floor. The flat and the roof sustained severe damage, but thankfully no one was injured.

The Brigade was called at 1922 and the fire was under control by 2232. Crews from Sutton, Wimbledon, Wallington, New Malden and Tooting stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire officers and the police.
