Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in an electrical sub station on Highview Road in Sidcup this morning.
An electrical sub station attached to a four storey residential property was completely damaged by the blaze. Crews evacuated around 50 residents from the flats next to the sub station as a precaution but they were allowed to return to their homes once the fire was under control.
Crews from Sidcup, Eltham and Bexley fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0722 and the fire was under control by 0923.
