Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a fire at a residential unit on Twickenham Road in Isleworth yesterday afternoon.

Part of a first floor bedroom, which is part of a hospital, was damaged by the fire.

Firefighters tackled the blaze, and rescued the man from the room affected by the fire. He was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance service crews.

Around 58 patients and staff members evacuated the property before the arrival of the Brigade. Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers attended the scene.

The Brigade was called at 1648 and the fire was under control by 1805. Fire crews from Heston, Willesden and Twickenham fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by London Fire Brigade’s fire investigators and the police.
