Woman rescued from West Beckton maisonette fire

Firefighters rescued a woman from a maisonette fire on Ripley Road in West Beckton during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued the woman from a three roomed maisonette on the ground floor which was left badly damaged by the blaze. A man, woman and three children left another maisonette on the first floor before the Brigade arrived. All were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service.

The Brigade was called at 0202 and the fire was under control by 0311. Four fire engines, 21 firefighters and officers from East Ham, Poplar, Stratford and Barking fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
