Hackney
House or flat fire

Six fire engines and around 35 firefighters and officers were called to a house fire on Bouverie Road in Hackney this afternoon.

The blaze damaged the internal staircase of a three storey house. The property is currently under renovation and thankfully nobody was injured.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, most likely due to self heating of oily rags.

The Brigade was called at 1257 and the fire was under control by 1655. Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Holloway, Tottenham and Islington fire stations attended the scene.
