Twenty-one firefighters and officers were called to a house fire on Addison Road, Teddington last night.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus found a man in the house who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
Part of the ground floor of the house was damaged by the blaze.
Four fire engines from Feltham, Twickenham and Kingston fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 1814 and the fire was under control by 1915.The cause of the fire is under investigation.
