Mile End restaurant damaged by fire

Fire at commercial property

Six people evacuated from a fire at a restaurant with flats above it on Roman Road in Mile End, in the early hours of this morning.

The adults left the building before the arrival of the Brigade and were uninjured.

Part of the ground floor, the whole of decking at the rear of the building and small part of the first and second floor were damaged by fire.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Bethnal Green, Whitechapel, Shoreditch and Homerton fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 0014 and the fire was under control at 0123. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
