Four engines and 21 firefighters and officers battled a fire in an open yard, on an industrial estate on Mulberry Way in Belvedere, yesterday afternoon.
The fire occurred in a pallet storage area, and was discovered by staff of the industrial estate who spotted smoke and raised the alarm. When the crews arrived on site, they also tackled a second fire in a nearby area.
Approximately 400 pallets were damaged by the fire, but thankfully nobody was injured.
The Brigade was called at 1613 and the fire was under control by 1824. Fire engines from Plumstead, East Greenwich, Bexley, Sidcup and Erith fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Police.
