Beckenham – house blaze

16/02/2016 18:50
Bromley
House or flat fire

A woman reacted quickly to get herself and her two children out when fire hit their home on Lennard Road in Beckenham last night.

Woodside Watch Manager Danny Kelly said:

“The mother did exactly the right thing of getting out, staying out and dialling 999 which helped limit her and her children’s injuries. By closing doors behind her she also limited the damage to the ground floor stopping it from spreading to the first floor.”

Half of the ground floor was damaged by the blaze. A woman and two children left the property before the Brigade arrived. They were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade was called at 1850 and the fire was under control by 1932. Fire crews from Forest Hill, Woodside, West Norwood and Bromley fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
