Fire engine involved in road traffic collision - Edmonton

A fire engine from Edmonton Fire Station was involved in a collision with a car on Fore Street at the junction with the A406 in the early hours of this morning.

The fire engine involved was en route to reports of a fire alarm sounding at a block of flats in Northumberland Park, Tottenham, when the collision occurred. This incident was resolved by the Brigade and no further engines were required. 

One passenger was trapped in the car and was released by firefighters before being taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews along with the driver.  One firefighter was also taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service and three other firefighters were assessed at the scene by them. No life threatening injuries are reported.

The collision involving Edmonton’s first fire engine occurred at 0226. Edmonton’s second fire engine and fire crews from Hornsey, Stoke Newington and Walthamstow fire stations attended the scene, along with a fire rescue unit. The incident was over at 0318.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
