Croydon – man rescued by fire crews

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a house fire on Stretton Road in Croydon last night.

Firefighters rescued a man from the roof via a ladder. He was suffering from smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Part of the ground floor was damaged by blaze.

The Brigade was called at 2023 and the fire was under control by 2112. Fire crews from Woodside, Croydon and Norbury fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
