Peckham – balcony blaze

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire on Lympstone Gardens in Peckham this afternoon.

The fire started on a balcony on the first floor and spread to the balcony above. Fire crews stopped the fire from spreading into flats.

Around 12 people evacuated the block before the Brigade arrived and thankfully there were no injuries.

The Brigade was called at 1313 and the fire was under control by 1349. Firefighters from Old Kent Road, New Cross, Brixton and Dockhead fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
