West Norwood maisonette fire update

A man rescued from a maisonette fire on Wolfington Road in West Norwood on Friday morning (8 April) has sadly died in hospital.

Four fire engines, 21 firefighters and officers were called to the fire which damaged a four roomed maisonette on the ground floor of a two storey property. Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued the man from the maisonette and he was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service where he died later that evening

The Brigade was called at 1054 and the fire was under control by 1251. Crews from West Norwood, Brixton and Norbury fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
