Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a house fire on Silverleigh Road in Thornton Heath this morning.
Two people escaped the property with no injuries before the Brigade arrived. The ground floor was gutted by the fire and a small part of the first floor was also damaged.
Fire crews from Norbury, Mitcham and Woodside fire stations dealt with the blaze. The Brigade was called at 0832 and the incident was under control by 0949.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
