Man rescued from West Norwood maisonette fire

Four fire engines, 21 firefighters and officers were called to a maisonette fire on Wolfington Road in West Norwood this morning.

The fire damaged a four roomed maisonette on the ground floor of the two floor purpose built block. Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from the property and he was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

The Brigade was called at 1054 and the fire was under control by 1251. Crews from West Norwood, Brixton and Norbury fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
