A man has sadly died following a flat fire on Bowes Close in Sidcup.
Four fire engines and 21firefighters and officers attended the fire which damaged part of the ground floor flat. Fire crews found the body of a man in the rear bedroom.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus led four elderly residents to a safe area inside the block. A further 14 people were evacuated from the building by fire crews.
The Brigade was called at 1601. Firefighters from Sidcup, Bexley and Eltham fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
