Firefighters investigate smell of chemicals at Wood Green restaurant

About 150 people were evacuated from a restaurant on High Road, Wood Green, while firefighters investigated the smell of unknown chemicals, this evening.

The customers were evacuated by the Brigade and officers from the Met Police. Three women, one of whom was pregnant,  suffering from breathing difficulties were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service as a precaution.

The smell of chemicals was coming from a toilet on the first floor of the restaurant. Firefighters used detection and monitoring equipment to sweep the building but no elevated readings were found. The premise was ventilated as a precaution.

The Brigade was called at 2158 and the incident was over at 2359.
