Six fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to a fire in a disused hall on Kennington Park Road, Kennington Park, SE11 on Saturday evening.
The fire left the single storey church hall badly damaged and 50 people were temporarily evacuated from neighbouring flats as a precaution.
The Brigade was called at 1832 and the fire was under control at 2110. Crews from Lambeth, Brixton, Old Kent Road and Soho fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
