A man has died following a fire at a house converted into flats on Selwyn Road in Plaistow last night. Part of a first floor flat was damaged by the blaze.
The man was brought out of the property by firefighters via an internal staircase. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews where sadly he was pronounced dead.
The Brigade was called at 2149 and the fire was under control by 2316. Fire crews from Plaistow and Stratford fire stations attended the scene. The police are treating the fire as non suspicious.
