Firefighters rescued an elderly woman from a flat fire on Aldersgrove Avenue in Mottingham this morning. The ground floor flat was badly damaged by the blaze.
Fire crews rescued the unconscious woman from the living room. She was suffering from smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 0745 and the fire was under control by 0821. Firefighters from Lee Green and Eltham fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
