Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers attended a fire at a residential housing block on Layton Road in Brentford, this morning.
Part of a ground floor flat was damaged by fire and sadly an elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire engines from Chiswick, Heston and Acton fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 0658 and the fire was under control at 0737.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
