Fire breaks out at Orpington recycling plant

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers tackled a fire at the former Waste4Fuel recycling plant in Orpington, last night.

The fire mainly affected machinery at the plant and a small amount of rubbish was also alight.

Firefighters will remain at the scene this morning damping down the remaining hot spots.

Fire engines from Eltham, Sidcup, Orpington and Bexley fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 0800 and the fire was under control at 2243. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
