A postwoman rescued a man from a burning flat on the 17th floor of a tower block on Parkham Street in Battersea on Saturday morning after hearing the flat’s fire alarm go off.
The man was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service suffering from smoke inhalation.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus contained the fire in the kitchen of the flat, which was slightly damaged.
Three fire engines and around 14 firefighters and officers from Battersea, Fulham and Clapham fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 1117 and the fire was under control at 1204.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
