Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled a blaze at a house on Kenley Road in Wimbledon, in the early hours of this morning.
A man left the building before the arrival of the Brigade and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service suffering smoke inhalation.
The whole of the ground floor kitchen damaged by fire and part of the ground floor was also damaged by the blaze.
Four fire engines from Wimbledon, Purley, Mitcham and New Malden fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 0328 and the fire was under control at 0637. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
