Firefighters tackle blaze at town hall under renovation in Hackney

Firefighters tackled a fire at a town hall under renovation on Mare Street in Hackney, yesterday evening.

The fire affected a room on the first floor of the three floor building, a small part of which was damaged by fire.

Fortunately there were no injuries.

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters from Homerton, Stoke Newington and Bethnal Green fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 1855 and the fire was under control at 1956.  The cause of the fire is under investigation
