East Ham – man rescued from shop blaze

Firefighters rescued a man from a shop fire on Barking Road this morning. He was suffering from smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The fire damaged part of the ground floor and there was heavy smoke throughout.

The Brigade was called at 0656 and the fire was under control by 0841. Fire crews from East Ham, Plaistow, Barking and Dagenham fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
