Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers tackled a fire in the garden of a property on Rosenau Road in Battersea, yesterday evening.

A garden summer house of one floor was completely damaged by fire. Part of a dormer window and a small area of the roof of neighbouring properties were also damaged in the blaze.

Fortunately there were no injuries.

Station Manager Lucy Macleod who was at the scene said: “When firefighters arrived the building was well alight, you could see an orange glow from the road. It was challenging accessing the summer house as it was surrounded by three tall walls, but access was gained through the property and from behind it. Crews worked hard to bring the fire under control quickly.”

Firefighters from Battersea, Chelsea and Clapham fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 2307 and the fire was under control at 0049. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
