Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire on Carronade Place in Thamesmead this afternoon

The fire started in an alleyway between two properties and damaged the roof edges of two terraced houses, a conservatory, two sheds and six metres of wooden fencing.

Two adults and two children escaped one of the houses before crews arrived and a further adult and four children left the neighbouring property before the Brigade got to the scene. There are no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters from Plumstead, Erith, Eltham and Sidcup fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 1443 and the fire was under control at 1628. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
