Forty people evacuate from office block fire in City of London

Forty people evacuated from a fire at an office block on Friday Street in the City of London early this morning.

The occupants left the building before the arrival of the Brigade and fortunately there were no injuries.

The fire was in the basement and sub basement of the seven floor building and a small section of electrical cable casing at sub basement level was damaged by fire.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Soho, Dowgate, Shoreditch and Whitechapel fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 0530 and the fire was under control at 0745. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
