Four fire engines and 20 firefighters are attended a fire at a block of flats on Southgate Road in Kingsland, N1, this afternoon.
The fire affected a block of flats of eight floors and part of a four roomed flat on the fourth floor was damaged by fire. Sprinklers fitted in the flat suppressed the blaze.
Group Manager Mark Hazelton who was at the scene said: “The building’s sprinkler system did its job and suppressed the fire in its early stages, had it not been for the sprinklers the fire could have developed and caused even more damage.”

The Brigade was called at 1052 and the fire was 1204. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
