Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Galbraith Street in Cubitt Town, E14 during the early hours of this morning.
The blaze left more than half of the four roomed, first floor flat damaged, as well as a small part of the building’s roof.
Watch Manager Stephen Benson who was at the scene said: “Crews worked hard to stop the fire from spreading to other flats in the block and managed to confine it to the flat where the fire started.”
The Brigade was called at 0421 and the fire was under control by 0536. Crews from Millwall, Plaistow, Poplar and Shadwell fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
