Four people escaped uninjured from a house fire on Wadeville Avenue in Chadwell Heath last night.

A further four people from neighbouring properties were led to safety by the police, before the arrival of the Brigade.

The mid terraced house of two floors and two cars were completely damaged by fire.

A small area of the exterior facia and half of the roof of the adjacent property was also damaged in the blaze. The facia of a second neighbouring property and part of a car was also damaged in the blaze.

Station Manager Steve Chesson who was at the scene, said: “When the initial crews arrived they faced a fully developed fire which they tackled and worked hard to bring under control very quickly.”

Six fire engines from Ilford, Hainault, Dagenham and Barking attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 2209 and the fire was under control at 2345. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
