Bermondsey – flat blaze

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a shop and flat fire on Lower Road in Bermondsey last night. The fire was discovered by crews in the electrical cupboard on the ground floor. The whole of the first floor was damaged by smoke.

There were no people in the flat at the time of the blaze.

The Brigade was called at 2004 and the fire was under control by 2105. Firefighters from Dockhead, Deptford, New Cross and Old Kent Road fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Brigade officers and Police.
