Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a maisonette on Burke Street, Canning Town.

A small section of a ground and first floor maisonette was damaged by fire. Four people left the premises before the arrival of the Brigade.

The Brigade was called at 1052 and the fire was under control at 1144. Fire crews from Poplar, East Ham, Stratford, and Millwall fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental due to an incandescent light bulb coming into contact with
clothing.
