Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a terraced house on Homestead Way in Croydon.
When crews arrived the fire was out but a woman was sadly found dead in the property.
The Brigade was called at 0958 and the incident was over by 1043. Fire crews from Addington fire station attended.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
