Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Schoolhouse Lane in Wapping.
Part of a first floor flat in the six-storey building was damaged by fire. One man left the building before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 0149 and the fire was under control by 0231. Fire crews from Shadwell, Whitechapel, Millwall and Poplar fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
