Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a restaurant with flats above in Uxbridge Road in Shepherd’s Bush this morning.

Part of the ground and first floors and all of the ducting from ground to second floor was damaged by fire.

One person left the building before the arrival of the Brigade and was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by firefighters before being taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the cause of the fire was due to cardboard being placed on a charcoal grill which had been left on.

The Brigade was called at 0151 and the fire was under control at 0413. Fire crews from Hammersmith, Acton, Kensington, North Kensington and Chiswick fire stations attended the scene.
