Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a house in Victoria Road, Sutton in the early hours of this morning.

An outbuilding was gutted by the blaze and a vehicle was damaged by fire.

Part of the ground floor and first floor of the three-storey building were also damaged in the blaze.

Five people evacuated the property before the arrival of the Brigade and there were no reports of any injuries.

The fire is believed to have been caused by discarded smoking materials.

The Brigade was called at 0014 and the fire was under control at 0106. Fire crews from Wallington, Sutton and Mitcham fire stations attended the scene.
