Woman rescued from Forest Gate flat fire

Firefighters rescued a woman from a fire at block of flats on Post Office Approach in Forest Gate this evening.

The woman was rescued from the first floor via a short extension ladder and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

Part of a five roomed flat on the first floor was damaged by fire.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters from Stratford, Plaistow, Leytonstone and East Ham fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 1801 and the fire was under control at 1901. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
