Firefighters rescue man and woman from Wimbledon fire

A man and woman were rescued by firefighters in the early hours of Sunday morning after a fire broke out in a flat on Thursley Gardens in Wimbledon SW19. A further three people escaped from the flat before firefighters arrived on the scene. The man and woman who were rescued both suffered smoke inhalation.

The fire damaged part of the kitchen of the ground floor flat.

The Brigade was called at 0230 and the fire was brought under control at 0325.

Two fire engines and ten firefighters from Wimbledon and Wimbledon fire station were at the scene.
