Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters dealt with a flat fire on Raglan Road in Plumstead.
Part of a flat on the 20th floor was damaged by fire.
Station Commander John Owen said:
"Firefighters quickly tackled the blaze and stopped it from spreading. Around 30 residents self evacuated while a number of other residents remained in their flats. Thankfully there were no injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1436 and the fire was under control by 1546. Fire crews from Plumstead and surrounding fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
