Your career and benefits

For administrative and managerial staff, the full-time working week is 35 hours Monday to Friday, with lunch breaks of 45 minutes. For senior managers, the working week may be longer when required.

We are happy to support all non-uniform staff who wish to jobshare, for whatever reason.

There is a fixed salary structure and the grades of posts are determined according to responsibility. Salaries are paid directly into bank accounts in monthly instalments.

Your holiday entitlement is 26 days each year. Long service entitles you to one additional day after five years and up to seven additional days after twenty-five years.

Other paid-leave entitlements you might qualify for include: maternity leave, maternity support leave, adoption leave, study leave and special leave. Special leave with or without pay may be granted for dealing with personal or domestic problems, attending a funeral or moving house.

Additional benefits, where applicable, include an interest free season ticket loan and a childcare allowance (towards a registered childminder, nursery or nanny for children up to eight years old). There is also a contributory pension scheme that you can join as soon as you start working with us.

We provide every encouragement for training and career development. In addition to on-the-job instruction, special in-house courses are organised. Sponsorship may also be available to gain outside qualifications that are relevant to your job.

Mosts posts are located within the headquarters complex based at our new headquarters in Union Street, SE1. Our training centre is sited on Southwark. Smaller numbers of support staff work at our Command offices based around London (Croydon, Lewisham, Stratford, Wembley, Paddington).
