Fire 2002Fire 2002, Europe’s largest fire conference and trade exhibition, is being held on London’s home turf in London's Docklands this week. LFB hosts Fire 2002 at London's Docklands 3-5 September
Meet London Fire Brigade at Fire 2002 The LFB stand focuses on recruitment, CFS and procurement with equalities as a theme running throughout the exhibits. Visitors to the stand (157) will also have an opportunity to find out more about what the Brigade is doing via live access to hotwire, the Brigade's intranet site and our website, London Fire. There will also be demonstrations of two internal information systems, StARS and IRIS. The LFB's aim is to make London a Safer City. Working with the community is fundamental to the success of this aim. Community fire safety is one of the most effective ways we have of reducing fire injuries and deaths, and ‘fire safety first’ is an important message we are getting across at Fire 2002. The changing face of our brigade has meant we’ve had to look hard at everything we do from the way we recruit our people to the specification of the clothing they wear. Among the initiatives you can find out more about at the conference is London’s award-winning work in targeted recruitment as we push to achieve a workforce that truly reflects the community we serve. We're recruiting more women into the London Fire Brigade and Dany Cotton discussed some of the important issues as part of her speech to the conference on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner, Roy Bishop, talked about the way LFB is making sure the requirements of all our people are catered for and examined the way we handle the latest design and procurement of our kit. Please visit us at our stand, we will be pleased to meet you and we look forward to your questions, comments and suggestions.
