Harrow firefighters welcome Mayor and Mayoress

16 April 2009

The Mayor of Harrow, Councillor John Nickolay, and the Mayoress, Councillor Joyce Nickolay, visited Harrow’s fire stations yesterday (Wednesday 15 April), to learn about the work of the Borough’s firefighters.

Councillor Brian Coleman AM FRSA, Chairman of the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, accompanied them on their visit, introducing them to firefighters and showing them the specialist fire and rescue equipment in use at both Stanmore and Harrow fire stations.

“I was very pleased to welcome such important local figures onto our fire stations, as building strong relationships with our partners is key to keeping Harrow residents safe.” said Councillor Brian Coleman. “Though people know us as an organisation that fights fires, London Fire Brigade also works hard to prevent them, and this visit allowed us to share information about some of the community safety initiatives that are benefiting local people.”
